Monday, September 11 - SLC to London - FLIGHT CANCELED :-(

"If adventures will not befall a young lady in her own village, she must seek them abroad.” - Jane Austen

Well, Mom created her own adventures in her village before we left.  She bumped a fragile vein while putting on her sock, which resulted in a stream of blood spurting from her leg that was hard to stop.  Urgent Care doctors got to her right away, fixed her up, and we still left on time.

6:00pm Laurel and Shelli drove us to the SLC Airport.  Thanks!

Checked in at Delta Counter, checked in our bags, and made sure there will be a wheelchair waiting for Mom in London.

Lovely clam chowder at Market Street
Grill in the Salt Lake City Airport.

Found our gate!

And... just as it was time to board, they announced that there was a problem with the pilot and that our flight was canceled.  Not delayed, just completely canceled. We were panicked, along with the rest of the passengers.

Mom played Wordscapes while we waited in
a very long line to talk with a Delta help desk.

Jens came to our rescue and spoke with Delta on the phone and found us a flight for the following day.  It was not direct and involved a short leg of riding in coach, but we were happy to take it! He also came to pick us up from the airport and take us back home. Thank you, thank you Jens.  You are our favorite person.

Back at home, I was able to change the London hotel dates online with an Expedia agent.  And I woke up at 2:00am to call the London Tower to change our ticket from Wednesday to Thursday.  They were so helpful and made it easy.

We drowned our sorrows in popcorn,
cheesecake (thank you, Ethan),
and Sense and Sensibility
